From Bergamo via Venice to Jesolo (first rest day)

Nicolas Keller

One highlight was Venice, a first for both of us. We were pleasantly surprised by this city. As soon as we crossed the first bridge, we were told that bicycles were forbidden in Venice and that we had to rent a bicycle box at the entrance to the city. We then went directly to the hotel by boat. For 5 minutes we paid 70 euros, which corresponds to a crisp gondonliere's hourly wage of 840 euros. So much for everything being expensive in Switzerland...

The day after Venice was our shortest travel day with only 50 kilometres to Jesolo. Jesolo is also our first rest day to relax and recharge our batteries for the long stage to Trieste, our last night in Italy.
